(ANSAmed) - TRIPOLI, SEPTEMBER 1 - The Foreign Minister,
Franco Frattini, arrived in the late afternoon in Tripoli, where
an informal meeting is under way between the group of
Mediterranean countries which take part in 5+5 Dialogue.
Other than Frattini there are representatives, of various
institutional levels, from other western Mediterranean countries
- for the northern shore, France, Italy, Malta (with the Prime
Minister Lawrence Gonzi), Portugal and Spain; for the southern
shore, Algeria (with Prime Minister M. Ahmed Ouyahia), Libya
(whose leader Muammar Gaddafi is expected to arrive), Morocco,
Mauritania and Tunisia.
The themes that will be faced during the meeting include:
national security, illegal immigration, the fight against
terrorism and organised crime.
Italy holds co-presidency of 5+5 Dialogue for the northern
shore, while the co-president for the southern shore is Tunisia.
