(ANSAmed) - BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 2 - Elektroprivreda Srbije
(EPS), the largest electricity provider in Serbia, and European
Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed an
agreement on a EUR40 million loan for procurement and
installation of electricity remote meter reading systems in
Serbia, reports Tanjug news agency.
Serbian Minister of Finance Diana Dragutinovic and Gacek
signed a guarantee agreement for the Serbia-EBRD project.
The total value of the project amounts to EUR80 million.
Moreover, the EPS is expected to sign an agreement with the
European Investment Bank (EIB) in about a month's time in order
to co-finance the project with another EUR40 million.
The loans will be used for about 250,000 smart meters which
will reduce electricity loss in the EPS network, increase the
percentage of settled bills and reduce electricity theft.
