(ANSAmed) - MADRID, NOVEMBER 3 - Today the Municipality of Madrid approved a change to the general urban plan that will allow Real Madrid to build a 12,500 metre leisure complex between the Bernabeu Stadium and Paseo della Castellana. The project was presented by the club's president, Florentino Perez, at the most recent shareholders' meeting. It includes a roof over the stadium, the construction of an underground car park with space for 600 cars, and the realisation of a leisure complex, for which Real Madrid will present an international call for architects. In exchange the club will give Esquina del Bernabeu, the part with buildings between the streets Concha Espina and Padre Damien, to the Municipality. The buildings will be knocked down and a park will be created on a surface of 5,216 square metres, as well as parcels of land in the Carabanchel district. The Municipality, deputy mayor Manuel Cobo explained today in a press conference, will also receive 6.6 million euros in cash to make Paseo della Castellana more suitable for building. Cobos underlined that the city will also receive other benefits from the project, since private investment is estimated at 200 million euros, creating 3,000 direct or indirect jobs, of which 2,300 during construction and 600 for the exploitation of the new leisure complex.
